Since 1983 the Museum of Marken shows work and traditions of this former island with its rich culture. You’ll find the beautiful collection at a unique location: six linked, historic houses in the old town in the central part of the ‘Kerkbuurt’ which is called ‘the street’ by the people from Marken.
Part of the museum has retained its original purpose, the 19th century residence of a Marken fishing family. Characteristic here are the walls, hung with many plates and prints, the chips boxes in which costume parts were stored, the fireplace, the rain water tank, the bedstead and the painted cabinets.
